Infectious Diseases
Council's Health Services department is responsible for the investigation of outbreaks of infectious diseases in conjunction with the Victorian Government's Department of Health.
This includes vaccine preventable diseases as well as food poisoning and diseases such as impetigo (school sores).
Infectious diseases epidemiology and surveillance
The Victorian Government Department of Health website routinely publishes reports on infectious diseases and other conditions notifiable in Victoria, including:
- interactive infectious disease reports (updated daily)
- quarterly reports on HIV/AIDS and
- weekly influenza reports during the flu season.
