Law Week at Shepparton Library - The County Koori Court Explained
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are over-represented within the criminal justice system. As such, the County Koori Court plays an important role in encouraging active participation of the Koori community throughout the criminal justice process and is able to facilitate and address many aspects previously not considered.

Join guest speakers Terrie Stewart, County Koori Court Coordinator, Shirley
Annesley, Senior Koori Support Officer, and Shepparton County Koori Court
Elder, Aunty Pamela Pederson at the Shepparton Library and take a
step-by-step look at the inner workings of the County Koori Court.
You will learn about the establishment of the Court, the importance of
Elders and Respected Persons, Court proceedings, involvement of the Koori
community and the expectations of defendants.
This is an amazing opportunity for the public to learn about this unique
part of the Victorian court system.
This County Koori Court presentation will be facilitated by Goulburn Valley
Libraries.
