Greater Shepparton City Council has prepared Amendment C212 to the Greater Shepparton Planning Scheme. The proposed Amendment seeks to implement the recommendations of the Greater Shepparton Townships Framework Plan Review, 2018 by revising the residential Framework Plans in the Municipal Strategic Statement of the Greater Shepparton Planning Scheme.
The proposed Amendment applies to land in the townships within the City of Greater Shepparton.
The Greater Shepparton Housing Strategy 2011 (the GSHS) was prepared by David Lock Associates Pty Ltd on behalf of Council to guide the future long term identification and provision of residential land within Greater Shepparton. The GSHS establishes a development framework in the Shepparton and Mooroopna urban areas, as well as the smaller townships within the municipality.
The Greater Shepparton Townships Framework Plan Review, 2018 (the Review) focuses on the nine townships that the GSHS provided framework plans for. The purpose of the Review is to complement and build upon the work undertaken through the GSHS to 2011, and to update the framework plans for each of the townships within the municipality.
Council is committed to monitoring and reviewing the provision of residential and rural residential land across Greater Shepparton. The proposed Amendment will seek to maintain a residential supply of land to accommodate projected population growth over a 15 year period.
Greater Shepparton City Council Director Sustainable Development, Geraldine Christou, said “the proposed Amendment will ensure that our townships have sufficient residential land identified to accommodate future growth. The proposed Amendment will facilitate residential development in a sustainable manner and allow for a diversity of dwelling types and sizes in the townships”.
Land owners of land affected by Amendment C212 will be directly notified by letter. Any person can make a submission to the Amendment, should they wish, supporting, objecting or requesting changes to the documentation.
You can learn more about how to make a submission on our Amendment C212 page.
