Australian National Flag Day is celebrated on 3 September each year, marking the occasion when the Australian National Flag was first flown on 3 September 1901, in Melbourne.
All Australians are encouraged to fly or display the National Flag on this day to celebrate the anniversary of the symbol of our nation.
Schools, businesses and community groups are encouraged to host flag raising ceremonies on, or about, 3 September to celebrate the occasion.
