When Bangarra Dance Theatre comes to town in early March, they’ll be hosting free dance workshops aimed at engaging high school-aged children. The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Dance Workshop and the Dance Master Class will be held on Tuesday 7 March.
The workshops will provide an authentic and energetic environment for students to learn about the history of Bangarra Dance Theatre, as well as the background of the dancers involved in the performance.
Students will be taught simple repertoire from the current performance season, totems and motifs drawn from Aboriginal culture, Bangarra’s unique movement style and will have the opportunity to improve their technique under the direction of professional artists and choreographers.
Bangarra Dance Theatre will be in Greater Shepparton performing Terrain, a hymn to Country through contemporary dance. Terrain will transport the audience to Lake Eyre, the place of Australia’s inland sea: one of the few untouched natural waterways in the world. The performance will be at Riverlinks WestSide on Wednesday 8 March at 7.30pm.
CLICK HERE For further information about Terrain or the Bangarra Dance Theatre workshops, or please contact the Riverlinks Box Office on 03 5832 9511.
The Riverlinks season is proudly presented by Greater Shepparton City Council with support from Creative Victoria.
