In a week’s time, the SAM Precinct will transform into a vibrant site of music, food and art through the power of light for the inaugural Illuminate Festival.
The two-day festival is a celebration of the new Shepparton Art Museum (SAM) precinct and the region’s creativity, innovation and perseverance.
The festival, forming part of this year’s Shepparton Festival program, will see mesmerising lighting installations and experiences along Victoria Park Lake, food trucks, roving illuminated performances as well as a laser, light and sound show to finish the evening on Saturday.
Illuminate also welcomes an impressive music line up across the two evenings. Friday night will see headliner Clare Bowditch with supporting acts by Grim Fawkner and Adalita, while Saturday night will see Christine Anu as the major headliner with supporting acts by Drew Walker, Deans of Soul, Eliott and a Welcome to Country performed by Walumbarra and Minyerra.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Councillor Kim O’Keeffe said the festival would deliver a creative program like no other.
“Illuminate is truly a first for the region and Council is proud to deliver a never before seen event to celebrate the growth and development we have achieved to become a regional creative hub,” Cr O’Keeffe said.
“Highlights of the festival include headline music acts from Clare Bowditch and Christine Anu, more than 20 food vendors, an incredible adventure light path along the lake to explore, an exhilarating robot garden light and sound display, the CFA Torchlight Procession on Saturday and the dynamic laser, light and sound show to close the Festival on Saturday night.”
Illuminate will come to life on Friday 25 March at 6pm and conclude on Saturday night with an immersive laser, light and sound show. For more details on the festival including the full program of activities head to our Facebook page.
