Apply for Council’s Community Grants and receive funding for your club

Greater Shepparton City Council is urging local community groups and not-for-profit organisations to apply for their share of funding as part of Council’s Community Grants Program.

Applications for the following grants open today, Monday 23 January:

  • Community Matching Grants – Grants of up to $5,000 are available for community groups to support one-off projects and events which benefit and strengthen the Greater Shepparton community.
  • Community Sustainability Grants – Grants of up to $3,000 are available for projects and events which assist in promoting sustainable practices within the community.
  • Minor and Major Event Grants – Grants of up to $2,000 (Minor) and up to $5,000 (Major) are available to help facilitate events which increase and enhance community spirit, participation, inclusion and wellbeing.
  • Small Town Festive Decorations Grants – Grants of up to $2,000 are available for small towns within the Greater Shepparton region to enable local community organisations to purchase and install festive decorations.

Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali encouraged eligible community groups and organisations to submit an application for one of the four grant categories.

“We run these grants for the community. The money is allocated each round so that Council can support our local groups to put on an event, run a program or purchase something which will benefit the wider community,” he said.

“This money can be put towards a range of different projects. I encourage locals to get creative and think of unique and important ways they could use the money.”

Council is hosting a free Zoom Information Session on Wednesday 1 February 2023 at 5.30pm for anyone interested in making an application and seeking further information. The session will cover eligible community groups and projects, key application dates, grant amounts, how to apply and there will be an opportunity to have your questions answered. Register for the session via this link.

Applications for the four grants close on Friday 3 March. For more information on these grants and other programs currently open, visit our Grants and Funding page.
