Opportunities exist among 17 current community planning groups including Dookie, Kialla Lakes, Shepparton East, Tallygaroopna, Toolamba and Merrigum for those looking to make a difference in their community.
Acting Coordinator Community Development, Joel Board, said joining a Community Planning Group can help connect likeminded people who are passionate about where they live.
“Being part of a group allows you to access a range of resources and build partnerships with people and businesses in your community,” he said.
“By joining a Community Planning Group you can learn new skills and have a greater say in shaping your town or neighbourhood.
“Recent achievements for our local community planning groups include community events such as movie nights and BBQ evenings.
“These groups can improve infrastructure, and also help create a strong sense of community.”
Council has launched a Community Development Facebook group, www.facebook.com/groups/GScomdev/, where current community plan members can find more information.
