Council releases Draft Public Toilet Policy for exhibition

Greater Shepparton City Council adopted the Public Toilet Policy and released the draft Strategy for public comment at the December Ordinary Council Meeting.

The draft Strategy will open for comment for 28 days, from 13 January 2020 until 10 February 2020.

Changes to the document will make it more concise, while also recognising the supporting Strategy.

The Strategy includes a capital replacement and refurbishment plan, which provides operational level information, an outline of proposed improvements, and also informs future annual budgets.

This Policy will guide the management of public toilets with respect to:

  • Siting and distribution
  • Accessibility
  • Quality and service levels
  • Public safety
  • Service Communication

The Strategy will focus on ways Council’s public toilets can be improved, including:

  • Location
  • Safety
  • Universal access
  • Quality
  • Cleaning and maintenance
  • Environmental sustainability

The Public Toilet Policy can be viewed on Council’s website. Those wishing to have their say on the Policy can do so via Council’s website here.
