Greater Shepparton City Council is seeking community feedback on kerbside waste and glass collection.
As part of the State Government’s Recycling Victoria policy, Council is seeking to incorporate an alternative measure to remove glass from the current recycling bin and make changes to the frequency of kerbside bin collections to reduce waste going into landfill.
Mayor, Councillor Kim O’Keeffe encouraged residents to take some time to review the different options for the best way to remove glass from our current recycle bins.
“Changes to glass recycling are being introduced across the state and we want to know people’s thoughts on these changes,” she said.
“Currently, it is difficult to separate glass from other recyclable materials, and glass items often break in mixed recycling bins. Making changes will help improve recycling and the amount of waste going to landfill.”
Cr O’Keeffe said it was important to understand the community’s preferred option of disposing of glass. She encouraged residents to provide their feedback to assist Greater Shepparton in the future.
“The plan will be implemented over the next 12 months, so this is a really good opportunity to have your say and help us better understand your thoughts,” she said.
Feedback can be provided online until Sunday 20 March 2022 on the Shaping Greater Shepp website. Information sessions will also be held:
Any feedback and comments received will be used to develop the final plan which will be submitted at a Council Meeting for approval.
To provide feedback, head over to the Shaping Greater Shepp website
If you require assistance to complete your submission, please contact Council at council@shepparton.vic.gov.au or via (03) 5832 9700.
