Greater Shepparton City Council invites local residents to nominate for the Greater Shepparton Women’s Charter Advisory Committee (GSWCAC), with applications opening on Friday 18 August 2023 for a three week period.
The GSWCAC is a volunteer committee providing advice to Council on matters related to gender equity, representation, leadership, recognition, and wellbeing of individuals identifying as women in Greater Shepparton. The committee also contributes significantly to the development and implementation of the Greater Shepparton Women’s Charter Action Plan.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Cr Shane Sali, encouraged locals and interested residents to consider applying.
“The Greater Shepparton Women’s Charter Advisory Committee is passionate and committed to making a positive difference for women in the region,” he said.
“Being a part of the committee is not only rewarding, but also provides an opportunity for individuals to further develop their skills in problem-solving, leadership, and teamwork.”
As Charter Champion, Cr Dinny Adem said the Committee aimed to foster better opportunities for women.
“One of the core principles of the Greater Shepparton Women’s Charter Advisory Committee is diversity, ensuring the committee's membership represents the diverse community of Greater Shepparton,” he said.
"It is vital that both women and men speak up about the issues and opportunities impacting women in our community. We invite you to bring your unique voice to the table and help us drive lasting change in Greater Shepparton."
Interested residents can submit their applications via Council's website www.greatershepparton.com.au until 5.00pm on Friday 8 September 2023.
For additional information or assistance nominating, contact Council on (03) 5832 9700 or email communityadmin@shepparton.vic.gov.au.
