Greater Shepparton City Council and The Community Fund Goulburn Valley signed an important Memorandum of Understanding today, continuing ongoing support to strengthen and sustain our local community.
Greater Shepparton City Council and The Community Fund Goulburn Valley signed an important Memorandum of Understanding today, continuing ongoing support to strengthen and sustain our local community.
The Community Fund Goulburn Valley was established in 2001. It is an independent, not for profit organisation that raises funds and distributes them to local community groups and organisations within the Goulburn Valley. Greater Shepparton City Council will continue to support the community by funding various projects within Greater Shepparton.
More than $2.5 million has been raised for The Community Fund by individuals, businesses and council. These funds are distributed by The Community Fund to local organisations supporting the most vulnerable in our community including children, the disabled, elderly and vulnerable families.
Acting Chair, Russell Allen, said around 35 organisations are typically funded each year with recent examples including kitchen fittings for St George’s Rd Primary School, a horse for Riding for Disabled, Christmas lunch for those alone, furniture for a nursing home and bikes for disabled adults. “With council’s ongoing support we will continue with more projects to support the community, ” he said.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Jenny Houlihan, said signing this document has reinforced Greater Shepparton City Council’s commitment to The Community Fund and the great work they do within the community to support the operational expenses of many more community projects.“This will continue to support the fantastic work The Community Fund does within Greater Shepparton’s community, she said.
