Councillor Kim O’Keeffe was re-elected as Mayor for Greater Shepparton City Council for the coming 12 months at today’s Additional Council Meeting.
This will be Cr O’Keeffe’s fourth term as Mayor having previously served in 2018, 2019 and 2021. Cr O’Keeffe also served as Deputy Mayor in 2017.
Cr Anthony Brophy was elected to the position of Deputy Mayor for the coming 12 months. It is his first term on Council after being elected in 2020.
In her Mayoral address following the election, Mayor Cr O’Keeffe said she was looking forward to leading the community in its COVID-19 recovery.
“I look forward to much more positive things ahead for our community as we move through the COVID-19 recovery phase,” she said.
“I am delighted I am going to be there during this recovery and the many more things coming our way this next year.
“We need strong, compassionate leadership and I want to finish the job I have started. I have been there during COVID-19 and I want to be there during the recovery.
“It is a big year ahead as we start to get our lives back to normal. We are a strong, supportive and resilient community and I know we will work together to support each other.
“It takes all of us to get the job done. I look forward to much more positive things ahead.
“Let’s keep our voices loud and strong and work really hard. I am proud to be the Mayor of Greater Shepparton and I thank you so much for giving me the opportunity.”
