Greater Shepparton City Council was successful last year with being awarded funding through the Department of Justice and Regulation Community Safety Funding through its Community Safety Funding.
Council developed the Welsford Arterial Lighting Initiative (WALI) as a response to feedback from community members accessing the parking to the rear to businesses on the western side of Welsford Street.
This week three solar lights have been installed to the rear of the businesses on the border of Welsford Street and Shepparton Regional Park. The aim is to increase the pedestrian lighting and perception of safety for community members that utilise the area after hours.
