Greater Shepparton Mayor and Charter Champion, Dinny Adem said it was important to have an equal gender representation on Council to better reflect the views and values of our community.
“We would like to see a greater representation of women in local government so if you are thinking about standing but aren’t too sure of what’s involved, come along to the session and find out,” Cr Adem said.
“It is important that people standing for Council have a strong understanding of what is involved, both leading up to the election as part of their campaign and if they are elected.
“This session will give people an opportunity to hear from people who have been through the election process and those who have been elected to Council.”
A number of other information sessions will be scheduled for later dates.
GOWomenLG are also holding an information session in Wangaratta which people are welcome to attend if they cannot attend the Shepparton session.
