Greater Shepparton City Council is encouraging all pet owners to take advantage of PETstock’s Great Microchip Blitz on this weekend.
The cost to the public will be $10 per pet. This cost includes the implantation of the microchip and the lifetime registration of the data on the Global Micro database. Animals to be microchipped are dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits. Livestock, horses, birds or reptiles are not included in PETstock’s Great Microchip Blitz.
PETstock’s Great Microchip Blitz is to combat the issue of un-microchipped pets arriving at Greater Shepparton City Council's Animal Shelter.
This program was trialled successfully in South Australia in 2015 with over 3,000 pets chipped on a single weekend over eight stores. The program uses paid qualified implanters and volunteer support staff to manage the operations of the two days under the management of an allocated store staff member.
Bookings are essential and taken through a dedicated online booking system which sends out confirmation emails along with email and sms reminders.
For customers unable to access the internet, pet owners can also make bookings in person at PetStock, 210 Benalla Rd, Shepparton.
