Greater Shepparton City Council is partnering with local communities to host business sessions that support local businesses and help them reach their utmost potential through the world of social media.
The next business session will be held at the Dookie Recreation Reserve – Community Centre in Dookie in March. The various locations of the business events give residents and business owners from nearby towns the opportunity to attend.
Greater Shepparton City Council Director Sustainable Development Geraldine Christou said “Businesses, big or small, are realising the massive benefits of social media marketing and its increasing importance in the race to stay relevant and attract new customers.”
“Long gone are the days when the administrative assistant was the first point of contact between an organisation and the outside world. The role is being replaced by websites and social media profiles,” said Ms. Christou.
Business owners new to social media marketing might believe that a few blog posts, daily, random status updates, and a lot of “followers” and “likes” are going to grow their business. The truth is this actually takes real planning and dedication.
“Proficient online marketers know that in order to make the most of the power of social media you need to incorporate a deliberate mixture of listening to your audience, sharing your relevant message and enabling others to share your relevant message.”
Damien “Will” Willoughby is Southern Cross Austereo’s Digital Specialist for the Goulburn Valley. Will works closely with radio Triple M, Hit 96.9 and their clients to achieve real world results through digital media.
Hear first-hand about how businesses should be using websites and social media to complement their traditional marketing, such as TV and Radio, to connect with new customers and grow their operations.
