Construction of the New Dookie Road and Wheeler Street intersection will commence on Monday 16 January with completion anticipated mid-March, and activation of traffic signals early April 2023.
The safety upgrades will result in the New Dookie Road and Wheeler Street intersection being redeveloped to a signalised intersection with dedicated turning lanes and pedestrian crossings.
Construction will commence on the westbound lane of New Dookie Road and the Wheeler Street intersection. During this stage, two way traffic will be maintained along New Dookie Road, however Wheeler Street (north) will be closed for approximately six weeks and there will be no access from Wheeler St to New Dookie Road; or from New Dookie Road to Wheeler Street during this time.
Saleyards access will be via Wheeler Street (south) and the Saleyards main entry gates.
The Ash Street / New Dookie Road intersection will also be closed for the duration of construction.
Please refer to the traffic diversion plan included for further detail.
