Greater Shepparton City Council is reminding young storytellers that entries for the 2025 Furphy Literary Awards close soon.
In Summary
The Awards, presented in partnership with the Furphy Foundation, La Trobe University and Goulburn Valley Libraries, shine a spotlight on the creative talents of young writers from the region.
Entries are open for four youth categories: Junior Short Story and Junior Poetry for writers aged 12 and under, and Youth Short Story and Youth Poetry for writers aged 13 to 17.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, encouraged young writers not to miss their chance.
“This is a great opportunity for young people to have their voices heard and their creativity recognised,” he said.
“The Awards are about storytelling, and we know our young people have some powerful and unique perspectives to share.”
Each category offers prizes, with $300 awarded for first place, $100 for second place and $50 for third.
Entries close at 11.59pm on Saturday 31 May 2025. Tap here for more information or to submit an entry.
