VicRoads works on the Doyles Road/Midland Highway Roundabout at Shepparton East will result in an increase of heavy vehicle traffic using alternative roads including Wyndham Street.
Instead of using the Doyles Road Alternative Route, VICROADS is allowing a heavy vehicle specific detour to allow trucks travelling through Shepparton to use the Goulburn Valley Highway to reduce the number of heavy vehicles using the Doyles Road truck route.
Greater Shepparton City Council Director Infrastructure, Steve Bowmaker, says the detour will mean more trucks, including B doubles, travelling down Wyndham Street.
“Pedestrians and drivers need to stay alert and be aware of the movement of heavy vehicles on Wyndham Street. They do take longer to stop and take off and are not able to move as quickly to avoid hazards as a car so people need to take extra care,” he said.
The Doyles Road Roundabout Upgrade will be completed by the end of June. More information can be found on the VicRoads project website.
