Manager Citizens Services, Laurienne Winbanks, hopes residents will take the opportunity to microchip their pets at a reduced rate. “Greater Shepparton City Council are pleased to support the veterinary clinics in this worthwhile initiative that promotes responsible pet ownership. Residents will have the opportunity to microchip their pets for $40, saving $15 to $20 off the normal fee”
Microchipping enables lost pets to be easily identified by Council and vets and returned to their owners. This may prevent the animal being impounded and incurring fees.
Council animal management staff will be in attendance at Bunnings on Saturday to provide information about responsible pet ownership and owners will be able to register their pets on site. Registration is free of charge for pets under the age of six months.
“Residents can come down to Bunnings this Saturday from 10am to 2pm to have their dog microchipped by Shepparton Vet Clinic or call any of the participating vets to make an appointment for both cats and dogs.
Greater Shepparton City Council will also have some great giveaways on the day,” said Ms Winbanks.
