Greater Shepparton City Council is calling for nominations from local residents for the Greater Shepparton Positive Ageing Advisory Committee.
The committee represents people from a broad range of backgrounds and provides advice and assistance for a range of Council activities, including ways to promote positive gaining within Greater Shepparton.
Positive Ageing Advisory Committee representative Cr Fern Summer said there are sixteen (16) positions available on the committee.
The Positive Ageing Advisory Committee is made up of ten community members, two representatives from local service providers and one councillor. This committee plays a role in advising Council on issues which affect positive ageing and wellbeing across the municipality. “This is a great opportunity for people to actively contribute to positive changes relating to ageing in our community,” Cr Summer said.
“Committee members will be elected for a three year term and it will be up to the committee to decide how often they meet once established. I hope that up to four of the current committee members will be interested in continuing their contribution to the committee. “The committee advises Council on a number of different items including the broad issue of ageing in the community.”
Nominations for appointment to the committee will be received until 5.00pm 21 March 2014 Nomination forms and more information is available on the Council’s website at www.greatershepparton.com.au, the Council office, 90 Welsford Street Shepparton, the Regional Information and Advocacy Council, 190 Benalla Road, Shepparton.
