Opportunity for potential election candidates to meet and greet

Potential Council candidates will have an opportunity to find out more about elections and Council in an informal meet and greet with Councillors and staff before the August Council meeting.

Greater Shepparton City Council CEO Peter Harriott encouraged potential candidates to attend the Council meeting and take the opportunity to find out more about elections and Council.

“It is important potential candidates do their research and find out about how Council operates. Council meetings are where decisions are made so I encourage potential candidates to come along and see first-hand how Council operates,” Mr Harriott said.

“This session is an ideal opportunity to chat with Councillors and get their perspective of the role of a Councillor and what candidates need to consider should they be elected in October.”

“If you are interested in running for Council but are unable to attend this session, there are many resources available to you, including the www.standforcouncil.com.au website and Council’s own website, which can provide a wealth of information about Greater Shepparton, Council and the services we provide to our community.”

The meet and greet will run from 4.30pm on Tuesday 16 August in the foyer outside the Council boardroom. The August Council meeting will commence at 5.30pm.
