Plogging – fitness for you and the environment

Join RiverConnect and Greater Shepparton City Council on Saturday 12 January at Stuart’s Reserve, for the third annual Plogging session.

Part of the Activities in the Park program, "Plogging" is a morning session which combines exercise and cleaning the environment, it comes from the Swedish words "to jog" and "to pick up" — "plocka upp".

During the morning participants will enjoy a light jog around some of Greater Shepparton’s best walking tracks while using rubbish pick up tools to remove any traces of litter in the area.

RiverConnect Project Officer Meg Pethybridge said it was a great learning opportunity for Children.

“The activity helps to teach kids about keeping the bush clean for native wildlife and about being mindful of our environmental impact,” she said.

“Plus it’s a great workout involving stretching and cardio. The rubbish picker tools really test your grip strength.”

The event will kick off with a warm up at 9:00am on Saturday 12 January at Stuart’s Reserve playground, 156 The Boulevard Shepparton and finish at 11:00am.

Please remember to bring a hat, running shoes and a drink bottle.
