Recognising 25 Years of Volunteering Service at our Visitor Information Centre.

Bill Brown in November this year achieved an amazing milestone of 25 years of service as a volunteer at the Greater Shepparton Visitor Centre, and celebrated this achievement yesterday at a presentation ceremony at the Shepparton Golf Club.

Bill was presented with a certificate for his achievement by Cr Kim O’Keeffe, Deputy Mayor, later enjoying an afternoon tea.

Bill commenced his volunteering services at the Visitor Information Centre on 21 November 1991 after retiring from the workforce. 25 years and approximately 10,000 hours of volunteering later, Bill still continues to devote his time to the community.

Greater Shepparton City Council Director Sustainable Development Johann Rajaratnam described Bill as a most reliable, passionate and personable volunteer team member.

“Bill’s achievement is a great story for all and we appreciate his exceptional services over the past 25 years.

“Bill’s willingness to share his passion and stories about Greater Shepparton has been remarkable, and his incredible wealth of knowledge about Shepparton’s history and current happenings has provided assistance and benefit to visitors and members of our community.

“He has a great ability to engage visitors to Greater Shepparton, building rapport and making connections with almost all visitors he meets by adding personal touches in his volunteering role. We thank Bill for his dedication over the past 25 years and hope to see many more great times with him in the future,” said Mr Rajaratnam.

Bill volunteers every Thursday morning from 9am to 1pm at the Greater Shepparton Visitor Centre, located at 33-35 Nixon Street Shepparton.

Greater Shepparton City Council thank Bill, along with all our wonderful volunteers, who help us provide a variety of services for our local commuity and visitors.
