Say hello on Neighbour Day

Greater Shepparton City Council is encouraging residents to get involved with Neighbour Day on 30th March. Residents can enter their details to go into the draw to win a BBQ pack for the day.

Five BBQ packs are available to be won to the value of $100. The pack includes BBQ supplies including sausages, vegie burgers, bread, sauce, serviettes, paper plates and BBQ utensils. Halal sausages can be provided upon request. Entries close 14th March, 2014 and winners will be announced on Friday 21st  March, 2014.

Neighbour Day, is a Relationships Australia initiative. This is an annual celebration of the community, bringing together the people next door, across the street or on the next farm for a beef and barbeque. Neighbour Day’s five principles are to help to

  • Strengthen communities and build better relationships with people who live around us.
  • Create safer, healthier and more vibrant suburbs and towns.
  • This promotes tolerance, respect and understanding.
  • Break down community barriers.
  • Protect the elderly, the vulnerable and the disadvantaged.

Mayor Jenny Houlihan said “this is great for everyone to get to know their neighbours, organise a barbeque in the local park or in the street. We also have great prizes to assist residents with the day. So why not enjoy a Sunday barbeque lunch with your neighbours”.
