In just one week on Wednesday 14 February, the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) Queen’s Baton Relay will arrive in Shepparton.
17 batonbearers have been honoured to carry the Queen’s Baton in Shepparton, bringing the excitement of the Games to our community.
People are encouraged to line the streets and support our local batonbearers. There will also be a community celebration at Victoria Park Lake commencing at 1.30pm where the public can come together and share the spirit of the Relay and the Games.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Cr Kim O’Keeffe said she is delighted for Shepparton to be hosting the GC2018 Queen’s Baton Relay.
“Hosting the Queen’s Baton Relay is not only an exciting opportunity for us, it’s a way to highlight and promote Shepparton to people in Australia and the world who have been following the Queen’s Baton extraordinary journey. It’s also a wonderful way to celebrate the people that make our community great.
“I encourage all Greater Shepparton residents to come along to this community celebration, cheer on our local batonbearers and witness the Gold Coast 2018 Queen’s Baton hit our region. The celebrations will kick off at 1.30pm at the Lake, and everyone is invited to come along and enjoy the festivities. It will no doubt be a memorable experience you can share with your friends and family for a lifetime,” said Cr O’Keeffe.
Details of the streets and the batonbearers that will carry the Queen’s Baton are at gc2018.com/qbr.

In Australia, the Queen’s Baton is traversing 40,000km, travelling through every state and territory for 100 days.
The Gold Coast Games will be held between 4 – 15 April. They will be the biggest event to be staged in Australia in a decade.
