Word and Mouth, in collaboration with The Ethnic Council is proud to present “Girls Day In”; an event aimed at bridging the gap between cultures and backgrounds while having a great day of pampering, activities and fun.
The event, will be held in the St Georges Rd Primary School Hall on Saturday November 19, including activities as henna, braiding, dancing, and much more, as well as featuring a photo booth for the girls to utilise.
“This event is a fantastic opportunity for the young people of Greater Shepparton, to come and learn more about each other, as well as having some fun, all for free”, said Jim Gow, Project Manager at Word and Mouth. “We continue to engage young people by putting on a variety of events in Greater Shepparton. Too often we hear that there is nothing to do in the area for our youth and we are constantly looking to change that.”
Each event is the result of a youth committee, the WAM Army, who are keen and dedicated to providing activities for our regional youth.
”Each activity is driven by that committee, both in the planning and the volunteering on the day”, Mr. Gow said, “They meet weekly to work out what the young people of Greater Shepparton need and want. This event is about bridging the cultural gaps and building better social cohesion for our community, regardless of age.”
This event also leads into a very busy period for Word and Mouth over the next couple of months, with an event coming up in a few weeks, plus a school tour around cyber-bullying, as well as recruiting young people for the WAM Army for 2017.
These are FreeZa assisted events. FReeZA is a Victorian Government program that supports young Victorians to get involved in community life by planning and running drug, smoke and alcohol-free music and cultural events for other young people.
The event starts at 2pm and ends at 6pm, and all Word and Mouth events are fully supervised, and are drug, smoke and alcohol free events. No males allowed. Word and Mouth is a proud part of the Greater Shepparton City Council.
