REPAIR UPDATE: On further investigation and repair to the site, GSCC Transport and Road Reserves team quickly identified the cause storm water collapse.
The pipes had become displaced, allowing water to escape through the small gap and erode the soil around the pipes.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area around the corner of Rea and Orr Streets where a stormwater pipe has collapsed causing subsidence on the road.
Council are on site and works are underway to make the area safe. The hole in the road is approximately 1m deep and 2m wide.
