Western Park lighting, lights up

Greater Shepparton City Council has officially opened the Western Park lighting project, located on the western side of the Victoria Park Lake.

The project was funded by Greater Shepparton City Council for $210,000. Works included 27 lights being constructed at Victoria Park Lake. Footings were excavated, electrical wiring installed and lighting poles erected.

Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor Dinny Adem said “this project has been initiated by the community ‘Light up the Lake’ campaign. Now lighting has been installed on the western side of the lake, residents can enjoy exercising around the lake ensuring better safety and enabling residents to utilise the lake throughout the year, including winter mornings and evenings.”

“Council has listened to the community after the ‘Light up the Lake’ group formally submitted their suggestions and spoke at a Council meeting last year. Now, we have a project that is completed for all our community to enjoy,” said Cr Adem.

Greater Shepparton City Council would like to thank all users of the lake for their patience during the works while certain closures and delays occurred.
