Western Park lighting works begin

Greater Shepparton City Council contractors have begun works at Western Park for the lighting project, located on the western side of the Victoria Park Lake.

Works will include 27 lights being constructed at Victoria Park Lake. Footings are being excavated, electrical wiring installed and lighting poles erected. Works are due to be completed by April, 2016.

Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor Dinny Adem said “this project has been initiated by community feedback from last year’s budget. Residents submitted suggestions and spoke at a Council meeting as to what they would like to see happen at the Lake to improve safety and usability. Lighting around the western side of the lake would ensure greater safety and allow residents to utilise the lake at all times of the year.”

“Council has listened to the community and we now have a project that is a few months from being completed before the end of daylight saving in April, 2016,” said Cr Adem.

During this time earthmoving equipment will be operating around the footpaths on the western side of the Lake between the all abilities playground and the sheds near the south end of the Lake. There may be some temporary path closures and loose material on the paths. Works are being carried out during the day so please take care if you are using the area.

Your patience during this period is appreciated, as the continued improvement works will benefit all Victoria Park Lake users.
