The Greater Shepparton Women’s Charter Alliance Advisory Committee (GSWCAAC) is calling for nominations from Greater Shepparton residents to fill 14 vacant positions on the committee, with applications closing Friday 21 April 2017.
The GSWCAAC consists of up to 17 community members and up to eight representatives from Greater Shepparton City Council, including a Councillor as the Charter Champion.
The volunteer committee aims to promote women in leadership and focusses on Diversity, Active Citizenship and Gender Equity through its three point action plan, guiding the strategic objectives of the committee.
Greater Shepparton City Councillor and Charter Champion Cr Seema Abdullah encouraged local men and women to apply.
“If you’re looking to make a difference in our community this is your opportunity. The committee is dedicated and passionate about making a difference for women. Being part of the committee can also help individuals gain skills, truly providing a rewarding and valuable experience.”
“One of the key principles of the committee is diversity, so I encourage all residents to apply and help to represent the diverse community of Greater Shepparton,” said Cr Abdullah.
The committee is active in the community and has recently (sometimes in conjunction with other groups/organisations) achieved the following:
There are currently 14 vacant positions on the committee, and terms are until 30 June 2019.
