Greater Shepparton City Council’s works to widen Wyndham Street along the Victoria Park Lake frontage are due to be completed by Wednesday 23 December, with the works on the Wyndham/MacIntosh/Fitzjohn/Hassett intersection due to be completed in the new year.
Work on the intersection component will resume from Monday 11 January. Traffic will continue to be reduced to one lane through the intersection over the Christmas break, however the lanes along the frontage of the lake have been reopened.
The road improvements will increase the safety of one of the municipality’s busiest attractions, and are being completed as part of the contract to install traffic signals at the Wyndham Street/Railway Line/MacIntosh Street/Hassett Street and Fitzjohn Street intersection.
Council’s Director Infrastructure Phil Hoare said “I would like to thank motorists for their patience during the works. These works will improve parking along Victoria Park Lake and make it much safer for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists. The signalisation of the intersection of MacIntosh/Wyndham Street will greatly improve traffic movements and further improve safety at this busy location,” Mr Hoare said.
“During the holiday period please remember to take additional care if travelling through this area.” said Mr Hoare.
Council asks anyone passing through this area to take extra care, allow additional time and be aware of changes to parking and traffic detours while the works are taking place.
