Greater Shepparton City Council wishes to advise the community that recent works on stage 2 of the Verney Road upgrade have not come up to the required quality standard, as the compaction testing of the road was unsatisfactory.

Council’s Chief Executive Officer Peter Harriott and the project team made the decision last night to treat the pavement layers before proceeding with sealing to ensure long term sustainability of the road. This was communicated to residents who attended the community information session last night, advising of the delay this would incur on the completion of the stage. The stage is now scheduled to be completed by late January 2017.
Traffic management will be in place over the Christmas and New Year break and Council asks for the community’s compliance with the traffic management for everyone’s safety.
Greater Shepparton City Council Director Infrastructure Steve Bowmaker apologises for the length of time this project has taken, and thanks the community for their patience and support.
The process of obtaining a contractor for the Stage 3 works is underway, with the tender closing in mid-January 2017. A report will then be presented to the Council for approval prior to works commencing. Another community information session will be held early in the New Year providing an overview of stage 3 before the works commence.
