Nominations sought for Disability Advisory Committee

Greater Shepparton City Council is calling for nominations from local residents for the Greater Shepparton Disability Advisory Committee.

The committee represents people from a broad range of backgrounds and provides advice and assistance for a range of Council activities, including ways to promote Access and Inclusion in Greater Shepparton.

The committee consists of people with disabilities, industry service providers and a nominated Councillor.  Council staff members provide administration support for the committee.

Council’s Director Community Kaye Thomson said there is one community representative position and one service provider position available on the committee.

“This is a great opportunity for people to actively contribute to positive changes relating to disability in our community,” she said.

“Committee members will be elected for a nine month term, with the committee meetings occurring monthly (excluding January).

“The committee advises Council on issues people with a disability and their carers face in the community. Council and the Disability Advisory Committee are committed to providing an accessible and inclusive community for all.”

Nominations for appointment to the committee will be received until 5pm, Friday 20 September 2019.

Nomination forms and more information can be found on Council’s website or at the Council Offices, 90 Welsford Street Shepparton.

Verbal nominations can also be made by contacting Access and Inclusion Officer on (03) 5832 9700.
