Some goods or materials can be resold or repurposed, while various businesses in Greater Shepparton offer recycling programs for difficult-to-recycle items.

Shoes

TreadLightly is a national recycling initiative that takes unwanted sport and active lifestyle footwear and responsibly recycles it to give it new life.

Bring your pre-loved sports shoes into a participating retailer and drop them off in the designated collection unit. Your footwear is collected and sent to the recycling plant for sorting, breakdown and processing here in Australia. Reusable components are extracted, including rubber, leather and fibres at the recycling facility. Reclaimed materials are used to manufacture new products such as gym mats, floors and playgrounds.

The following locations are participating retailers:

  • The Athlete’s Foot Shepparton
Shop 16 Centrefair Plaza, Maude St Mall, Shepparton
  • Drummond Golf Shepparton
    162 High Street, Shepparton
  • SportsPower Shepparton
    80 High St, Shepparton

Toys

Big W (Shepparton Marketplace, Shepparton) have partnered with Terracycle to offer the Toys for Joy program. BIG W sponsors this national recycling program making it free for everyone to participate.

Simply bring your old toys into Big W and look out for the toy chest to recycle your pre-loved toys in store.

The program accepts all brands of pre-loved toys that are not fit for re-homing such as plastic, metal, plush and electronic toys (with batteries removed)

The program does not accept books, board games, wooden toys, play doh, paint and slime, pens, pencils, crayons or paint brushes or oversized toys such as bikes, scooters, skateboards or sports toys such as soccer goals

Other items too good to throw away

Our Resale Shops are a great place to purchase used household items that are still in good usable condition, such as couches, bikes and kids toys.

If you have unwanted items in good working condition that you think would be suitable for the Resale Shop, please show our staff at the Resource Recovery Centre, and they will assess them. Please note:

  • We might not be able to accept every item.
  • Only items that are in good condition will be accepted. We can't accept damaged goods.
  • We can't accept electrical goods or baby items.
