Justice of Peace
Honorary Justice volunteers are individuals who have demonstrated a commitment to actively providing vital justice services to all members of the community. They are also deemed to be honourable members of the Victorian community.
Honorary Justice volunteers' participation ensures that the Victorian community continues to have access to professional, supported and leading edge volunteers that provide quality justice services.
Document signing stations provide the community with convenient access to Justices of the Peace during business hours and evenings.
The stations are located in public places such as police stations and libraries. The hours vary between locations; it is advisable to check operating hours before attending.
Justices of the Peace services offered at document signing stations include:
- attesting the execution of a document
- witnessing an affidavit for use in court
- witnessing a statutory declaration
- certifying a true copy of an original document
- certifying a person’s identity
Appointments are not necessary.
The justice of peace is a free service.
