This Friday May 30 between 11.30am -2.30pm four primary schools have been invited to a free classical singing workshop in Tatura at the Victory Hall (75 Hogan Street). There are around 40 students who are participating in this workshop. The workshop is facilitated by singers Charlotte Goode founder of Opera in the Country in conjunction with Mei Wah Chan from Opera Scholars Australia's program Voices unleashed - youth outreach.
Charlotte (the workshop organiser) grew up in Kyabram and now attends Melbourne university's conservatorium where she is studying classical voice/ opera. She is passionate about bringing classical singing and opera to smaller country towns and was keen to run this workshop to expose young people to classical singing and opera. Opera in the country is having a concert at the Tatura Victory hall that evening May 30 and the school students will perform in the concert alongside four emerging opera singers.
Opera scholars Australia have also donated music stands to the primary schools in the hope of promoting opera and music to students in smaller regional schools.
