Stage One works of Balaclava/Verney Road intersection continuing to take shape.
Work Undertaken to Date
This month Council’s contractors commenced the removal of the roundabout at the intersection and created a temporary T-intersection at Hawdon Street and New Dookie/Balaclava Roads.
Temporary traffic signals have been installed at the intersection, as well as signals at Bourchier Street and Balaclava Road to manage the flow of traffic during construction.
Demolition commenced on the north side of the intersection to remove deteriorated assets. Drainage works commenced with the removal of drainage pits and pipes in the same area.
Crews also started the removal of the plane trees and peppercorn tree along New Dookie Road to allow for the widening of the road on the north side.
Upcoming Works
Construction of the kerb and channel on the northern half of the worksite will commence in the coming weeks.
For more details on Stage One’s traffic management plan visit the project page on Council’s website.
