After the success of the last three years, the creators of the previous zombie events, Word and Mouth, are returning with a different main course for the region's young people.
CarnEvil is a vintage circus with a horror twist, and will be again be held over two nights, however people are being urged to buy their tickets early to avoid disappointment.

This year however, staggered timeslots are being sold to avoid lengthy delays. Last year saw more than 550 people witness the unspeakable maiming that occurred in the maze by a number of zombies, creating screams of both delight and sheer terror from all that were brave enough to endure it. This year should be no different. Aimed at young people primarily 15+ due to the horror themes, the event promises to be one of Word and Mouth’s biggest events for the year.
“Some of our events are 250+ hours in planning; this one in particular” said Jim Gow, Project Manager at Word and Mouth. “The setup time alone is going to be a few days, not a few hours. Essentially it is going to be a walkthrough in a large indoor dark space, with all the circus attractions you may expect to see if you were to go to a vintage circus. However, we have to add our little spin of terror on it!”
“We continue to engage young people by putting on a range of events for young people to do in Greater Shepparton. We too often hear that there is nothing to do in the area for young people and we are constantly looking to change that. This event is the zombie replacement event so we are hoping it will be just as well supported by all the horror fans of the area.”
Unlike the previous three years, there will be no movie at the end of the walkthrough, in a number of changes to the ‘recipe’ that have been made to make things more enjoyable for the regions young people. “Despite the event being over two nights this year, the two nights are far from the same. Friday will be juicy, and Saturday will be scarier than Friday. We might even add some clowns in there too, so it should make for eventful evenings.”
When asked to describe the event, Mr Gow stated that “it is going to be like you are in your own horror movie. You are the star. The one that makes those decisions that you scream at the TV during the movie to do. That is now you.”
“We’re also extremely grateful to all the Greater Shepparton City Council that have helped out us out for this event, because without them, the event would simply be too expensive to put on. With their help, the young people of Greater Shepparton now have this amazing event to look forward to”, finished Mr Gow.
The tickets for this event are just $10, including the maze experience and the movie. There will also be vendors there on the night selling collectables from the horror genre, as well as zombie related goods. Tickets are available from Riverlinks, and can be purchased online.
