Council approves funding across eight grant programs

Greater Shepparton City Council continued its support of local organisations, clubs and events at the October Ordinary Council Meeting, approving funding across eight grant programs.

A total of 57 grants were approved on Tuesday night across the Our Sporting Future, Community Matching, Heritage Grants, Community Arts, Australia Day, Small Town Festive, Community Sustainability and New Business Grants.

Council provides grants as one-off financial assistance to not-for-profit organisations running local projects and activities, such as local and regional events, community development activities, community health initiatives, environment, and revitalisation of space and heritage projects.

Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Cr Kim O’Keeffe, said Council was pleased to continue its support for the local community.

“Council loves supporting local businesses, clubs, organisations and events,” Cr O’Keeffe said.

“The grants program supports established and emerging communities through activities, programs and events that contribute to community strengthening and bring social and economic returns to our region.

“I’d like to thank all those who applied for one of the many grants Council offers, and congratulate those who were successful.”
