Courthouse funding announcement. A welcome surprise!

Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Jenny Houlihan, has welcomed the announcement today from Victorian Deputy Premier, Peter Ryan and the Attorney General Robert Clark, that the Shepparton Courthouse will receive $73m in funding to replace the existing building.

The pre-budget announcement will enable the old inadequate court house to be replaced with a new purpose-built court complex.

"We were very pleased to hear of the $73m investment and thank the State Government for supporting much needed infrastructure in Shepparton," said Cr Houlihan.

The Courthouse redevelopment is part of the Make Shepparton Greater lobbying campaign along with improved passenger rail services, the Shepparton bypass, and redevelopment of GV Health and the Shepparton CBD.

Cr Houlihan said "The courthouse situation has been an issue for several years. We have waited a long time for this funding to be announced for the improvement of this important facility which is why it was included in our Make Shepparton Greater campaign."
