Greater Shepparton Councillor recognised for role

Greater Shepparton City Councillor, Seema Abdullah, has recently been recognised by the High Commission of Pakistan in Canberra for her role as the first woman of Pakistani origin Councillor in the Greater Shepparton City Council, and was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation for her achievement.

Cr Abdullah received the award at the launch of Pakistan’s Consulate General in Melbourne, with various politicians and dignitaries in attendance.

Cr Abdullah said she was honoured to receive such an award and thanked the Greater Shepparton community for their support in enabling her role as Councillor.

“The launch was a great opportunity for me to present all of the positive characteristics of Greater Shepparton that permitted a first generation migrant to be elected as a Councillor.

“There are a lot of great things about our region and I was thrilled to be able to highlight some of the key benefits of living in Greater Shepparton to all in attendance at the launch,” said Cr Abdullah.
