Greater Shepparton City Council will host a trade stand at Asia Fruit Logistica in Hong Kong in 2026, partnering with Fruit Growers Victoria (FGV), following positive outcomes from the 2025 delegation being noted at the December Council Meeting.
Asia Fruit Logistica is the leading trade event for fresh produce across the Asia-Pacific region. In September this year, Council and FGV showcased the region at the three-day expo, with a strong delegation including the Mayor, Chief Executive Officer, Council’s Manager Economic Development, FGV representatives, and more than 25 local growers and supply-chain businesses.
Building on this success, Council will return in 2026 to continue promoting Greater Shepparton’s horticulture industry on the international stage.
Key achievements this year included participation in the Global Victoria Trade Mission in Shenzhen, China, the day before the expo, with over 30 Chinese buyers in attendance. This event provided a valuable opportunity to present our region’s producers, while deepening international business ties and enhancing Greater Shepparton’s visibility abroad.
Following this was three days at the expo, providing an opportunity to support the region’s horticulture industry, showcase Greater Shepparton’s high-quality produce, and promote local export opportunities across the globe.
Council’s presence at the expo significantly enhances awareness of the region’s horticultural offerings and facilitates opportunities for trade agreements between international buyers, Greater Shepparton growers and horticulture supply chain businesses, contributing to positive economic outcomes for the region.
Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, said Greater Shepparton’s agricultural output exceeds $729 million annually with fruit production alone accounting for nearly 50 per cent.
“Greater Shepparton’s presence at Asia Fruit Logistica sends a clear message that we continue to be open for business and ready to grow. It provides our local growers with credibility and connection in a highly competitive international market and supports the ongoing development of trade partnerships across Asia,” he said.
The 2026 delegation aligns with Council’s International Engagement Policy and economic development goals, further supporting the region’s ambition to be a leading exporter of premium fresh produce.
