Greater Shepparton City Council Director Infrastructure, Steve Bowmaker said “This is not a small or light object, it would take several strong people to handle the fully assembled tank. The ends and the tank lid are all made of cast iron with a rolled galvanised barrel.”
“The history of both the Furphy business and products and the fabled telling of furphies are synonymous with Shepparton,” said Mr Bowmaker.
“This really is a low act, it was a popular fixture at the park and reminded people of our local history,” said Mr Bowmaker.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Shepparton Police.
