Spraying for beetles at Victoria Park Lake

Greater Shepparton City Council is undertaking spraying for a beetle infestation in the Victoria Park Lake precinct from 4.00am to 5.00am on Tuesday 31 January and Wednesday 1 February.

Council staff have found an infestation of Billbug and some Black Beetle at the Lake which needs to be controlled. The infestations will be sprayed both to eradicate the beetles and provide a preventative measure.

The beetles cause significant damage to turf and eventually kill the grass. They are hard to detect until damaging populations are present and the only effective control is spraying an insecticide.

The spraying will be completed before 5:00am and subsequent irrigation of the areas by 6:00am on both days.

Council needs to protect the amenity of the Victoria Park Lake precinct and provide the public with and attractive and comfortable place to enjoy.

Information on Billbug can be found on the below attachment.
