Greater Shepparton City Council is committed to our older residents. Our aim is to promote the health and wellbeing of the older community, in line with the Greater Shepparton Public Health Strategy Plan 2018-2028 and the Greater Shepparton Public Health and Wellbeing Action Plan.
Greater Shepparton City Council invites applications from community led organisations and groups under the current round of the Victorian Seniors Festival Grants Program. The Program provides funding for the planning and delivery of events and activities for our valued senior community members of Greater Shepparton during the month of October. Events and activities during the Festival aim to increase social and community connections.
The Victorian Government, through the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing provides funding to all Victorian Local Governments to assist local organisations to develop, implement and promote activities and events during Victorian Seniors Festival.
Applicants and groups must be based in Greater Shepparton and operating not for profit. The proposed project should be able to demonstrate broad community benefit.
Funding is provided on a one-off basis to a maximum of $500.00 per successful grant application. Funding is limited and not all applications that meet the guidelines may be funded. Funding is on a project or program basis only, and no recurrent grants or annual funding commitments are available from this fund.
The Seniors Grant Assessment Panel will give priority to projects that:
Community based project, activities and programs for older members of the Greater Shepparton community to celebrate Victorian Seniors Festival. Activities must be held during October and promote healthy and active living of older people in the community through increasing social and community connections
Seniors Festival events should focuses on providing fun and good times with opportunities to participate in events and activities for free or low cost.
For example previous Seniors Festival Grants have been used to assist in the running of events and activities such as: Trivia Afternoons, Silo Art Tour, Film afternoon and High Tea, River Heritage Walk and Talk, concerts, various sports come and try activities, Cultural Bus Trip, Walk and Talk, visits to other town and well known tourist attractions.
The Greater Shepparton City Council and the Office for Senior Victorians will be acknowledged as a sponsor of a project receiving funding.
Projects and activities must not be discriminatory in any way, or contravene any legislation.
