Expressions of Interest closing soon for inclusive emergency preparedness training
Posted on
Thursday 21st of May, 2026,
Greater Shepparton City Council is seeking expressions of interest from people living with disability, carers, support people and disability agencies to participate in the Person‑Centred Emergency Preparedness (P‑CEP) Online Certificate Course.
The P‑CEP Certificate Course is a world‑first program that supports inclusive, practical and person‑centred emergency preparedness. Delivered by Collaborating 4 Inclusion and The University of Sydney, the course was codesigned by people with a disability and focuses on emergency preparedness for individuals and groups.
The training consists of six self-paced online modules completed over five weeks. The modules include reading, videos and activities, with the opportunity to connect with others through the P‑CEP learning community.
Council’s Manager Emergency Management and Resilience, Belinda Conna, said the course is a great opportunity for at risk groups in our community to access practical and inclusive information.
“Recent flood and storm events have highlighted the importance of ensuring people at greater risk are at the centre of our emergency planning. This training provides practical guidance to help our community be better prepared,” she said.
“By learning together, we can build safer and more inclusive emergency preparedness for everyone in Greater Shepparton.”
Through the course, participants will learn to:
Apply the four P‑CEP action steps to strengthen their own emergency preparedness.
Develop the skills and confidence to support others using the P‑CEP approach.
Connect with stakeholders to advance inclusive practices across the community.
The training is provided free of charge, funded by the Australian and Victorian Governments, and follows recent flood and storm events that affected Greater Shepparton.
