Applications for the 2019 Greater Shepparton Seniors Festival Grants open this Friday, 12 April and will close Friday 10 May 2019.
Council is committed to older residents in Greater Shepparton, and aims to promote their wellbeing in line with the Greater Shepparton Positive Ageing Action Plan.
This limited funding is intended to support a range of activities and events that have a particular focus on seniors in our community.
It is hoped the grants will encourage our older generation to participate in physical activities or attend social events and functions.
Funding support is available for the following:
Council Mayor, Cr Kim O’Keeffe, encouraged residents to apply.
“These grants are about providing opportunities to our older generations to be active and social,” Cr O’Keeffe said.
“There are plenty of groups around our municipality already doing this to a brilliant level and we encourage them, as well as new groups or people with new ideas, to apply for some financial support.”
Funding is provided on a one-off basis to a maximum of $500 per grant. Groups and individuals making applications are encouraged to apply for funding prior to the detailed planning of their proposed project commencing.
Applicants and groups must be based in Greater Shepparton and operating not-for-profit. The proposed project should be able to demonstrate broad community benefit. Funding will not be provided for capital works of any nature.
Please refer to the guidelines for the Seniors Festival Grant on Greater Shepparton City Council website, or a hard copy is available.
Grant applications will be received via the online Smarty Grants portal.
