Greater Shepparton City Council is calling for nominations from local residents for the Greater Shepparton Positive Ageing Advisory Committee (PAAC).
The committee provides a connection between Council and Greater Shepparton’s ageing community, providing advice and assistance on a range of Council activities, including the Victorian Senior’s Festival and contributing to the recognition of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.
Committee members represent people from a broad range of backgrounds. There are up to nine community representative positions and up to two local agency provider positions available on the committee. The Committee is also joined by a nominated Councillor.
Mayor, Councillor Kim O’Keeffe said the committee is a great opportunity for members to actively contribute to positive ageing outcomes that can benefit older people into the future.
“The committee connects people within our municipality. The previous two years have highlighted the importance of staying connected to our community and how important it is for our older community to stay active, healthy and connected,” she said.
“The previous committee has helped implement some great changes and has advised Council on issues relating to older people and contributes to the promotion of an age friendly municipality.
“I hope that previous committee members will be interested in continuing their contributions and continuing to make a change.”
Nominations for appointment to the committee will be received until 5pm Friday 15 April 2022.
Nomination forms and more information are available here or at Council offices, 90 Welsford Street Shepparton. Verbal expressions of interest can also be made by contacting Council’s Positive Ageing Officer on (03) 5832 9700 or emailing council@shepparton.vic.gov.au.
